01:28 pm - No, please DON'T get 'er done. Was just in an all-employee meeting. Several offices, all on the phone. And an extremely high level man actually said to someone else, such that we all, across all offices, heard it: "Get 'er done".
That really, REALLY bothered me. The inherent assumption of the objectification and sexualization of women is horrifying. Way to bring us down into representations of whatever item it is you need to "do", buddy.
And I am fully aware that he was clueless.
I immediately spoke out, although the only people who could hear me were the ones in our office - and I was laughed at. Another female in the office said I pretty much guaranteed that people will be saying it around me quite a lot.
It doesn't bother me to be laughed at about something like this. And I WILL continue to fight it.

02:09 pm - How I try to live my life You don't do the things you do because others will necessarily join you in doing them, nor because they will ultimately prove successful. You do the things you do because the things you do are right.

07:52 am - I've become one of THOSE people... Grande Soy Half-Sweet Mocha, No Whip, please.*****
*****There's hope for me still - I still smile and I'm not a bitch about it. I have never done either of the following, both of which are true stories:
-Complained because my foam bubbles were TOO BIG
-Complained because they put TOO MUCH COFFEE IN MY CUP

02:05 am - I feel like such a jerk I came home after work with a headache. Andrew made dinner and wrangled the kid, I passed out at 7:30 and he did EVERYTHING. And it's my turn to take the night shift, too, but he's doing that too. I feel like such a jerk. ;(
Also - he's pretty awesome.

09:30 am - This is my morning

So it went something like this:
We're having breakfast, Tomas stacks one blueberry on top of another one, Andrew stacks a third on top of those... and then Andrew went and got a skewer and "stacked" all those blueberries on it. In this picture, Tomas is trying to blow the berries down.

12:28 pm - snack food This weekend I made my own soy-nuts. It's extremely easy!
I just took 2 cups of dried soy beans, soaked them overnight, drained them well, spread them out on a cookie sheet and added salt, then baked them at 250F for 3 or so hours.
The first batch, I stirred around after an hour or so. The second batch, I didn't bother.
They are crispy and crunchy and just perfect. Yum!

09:29 am - What does it say that we have no problems with the message of this song? I love They Might Be Giants. I figured we'd introduce Tomas to them soon (especially the CD "Birdhouse in Your Soul", a favourite of mine), but then we discovered that somewhere along the way they started doing children's songs.
So.
This has been on repeat in our house over the weekend:
Warning: CATCHY. Andrew and I kept finding ourselves humming or singing it hours after last played. "SHUT UP!" was a common refrain. LOL

07:52 pm - laughing so hard over here... Some of the texts I got from my brother today:
"Good God... Just changed diaper...Want a raise."
"Horrible! I'm worried I did not clean him well enough. Had to stop or I was going to throw up. Seriously. Still feel ill! He laughed throughout."
"He's had the hiccups for a while. Cure?"
"Had to change him again. Ew!!! Got a bit cleaner. Tied my shirt around my face!"
Bwahahahahah. Today has been hilarious.
In other news, the daycare only had to be closed for 1 day after all. So I'll be taking Tomas in again tomorrow. My brother is relieved. :P

08:42 pm - Bliss Tonight we all played together... Andrew jumped around and pretended to attack Tomas, I tickled them both, Tomas pretended to attack me (I think he was trying to tickle me), and then pretended to attack Andrew, Andrew jumped on me and I grabbed Andrew, and we all laughed and played until Tomas was sitting on the ground breathing hard. Chloe came in and Andrew attacked her, and then she lay on me and licked my face and I hugged her and petted her and Tomas hugged us both.
This is a moment that makes everything else unimportant.
This is a moment I've had before, and this is a moment I hope I have more often.

07:20 pm - snippet Me: What does it say that I can define every place I've lived by the used bookstores? **
Andrew: That you are really, really AWESOME.
** That's not true, I define every place I've lived by the restaurants AND used bookstores.
